Interview : MARTIN DACAR

WAS : To begin with, can you introduce yourself ?
Martin Dacar : I'm Martin Dacar, I was born in Germany, near Frankfurt! At the moment, I'm studying culture in Mainz and in my freetime, making music and hanging up with friends :)


WAS : According to your myspace, you started music about 2 years ago, how did you end up in this field ?
M.D : Yes I started DJing about 5 years ago and with own productions in summer 2008. Once I played guitar and flute but it's more then ten years ago. From time to time I chilled with friends who had a sequencer or a MPC at home. One day I laid down the a yamaha sequencer on my knees and started making a beat...this was the beginning!


WAS : Can you remember the first record you ever bought ?
M.D : It's a very long time ago! I don't want to lie.....I can't remember! :)


WAS : Do you remember the first time you played ? and which date is your best musical memory ?
M.D : November 2008, I played the first time with vinyl in the club! The best gig I had so far was on christmas 2010....I played my first live act and the people loved it....never got so much good feedback like in this night! And there is no better feeling for me like screaming people who are dancing to my music!

WAS : What is the musical style you find the nearest to yours ? Which artist(s) inspires you ?
M.D : I would discribe my own music as minimal techno.....sometimes maybe a little bit tech-house! I get the best inspiration when I stay in a club. Sascha Braemer, Marc Houle, Dorian Paic, Masomenos and many more are Top DJ's and Producer for me!

WAS : Can you tell me about your first EP : LOLLYPOP ?
M.D : I did the lollypop ep in summer 2010...Sascha Braemer uploaded a flyer with the demo-emailadress of supdub and so I sent them the tracks. They liked it and so we get in touch! I think this 2 beats are very simple, and that's the way I get to my motto: (sometimes) „less is more!“












WAS : Do you have any plans for the future you would like to tell us about ?
M.D : I will continue my job as a producer! I have a good feeling......
